about

For those long time followers, you'll recognise the title from the Fronz Arp is a Tiny Crooked Orchestra project of 2012. This is an all-new song that uses the original version of the lyrics, except the final verse was inspired by the more recent revelations of violations of online privacy.

These lyrics are about that hard-to-define, diminishing humanity caused by focus on disembodied online relationships. The disconnection of being able to create yourself online as you wish to be and then spread yourself around, make friends or meet partners, based on this false identity. I find it fascinating and somehow wrong, though can't, like many people, put my finger on the definite reason why it feels wrong

lyrics

I'm afraid technology
Is keeping us apart
That constant communication
Is not the cure to being alone

Can you hear me
You're breaking up
I cannot understand

I'm afraid my one true love
May never hear my voice
Above the city traffic
Could they hear me above the noise

Can you hear me
We're breaking up
I cannot understand

I'm afraid the NSA
Has got their eyes on me
But not as scared that when they look
There'd be nothing for them to see

Can you hear me
I'm breaking up
And I cannot understand

I'm afraid technology
Is keeping us apart
Is tearing us apart
Keeps tearing us apart

about

Fronz Arp Brisbane, Australia

The strange machine which is Fronz Arp grinds like a tattered, angry little hurdy gurdy. With dramatic jaunt and seesawing melodies that have been compared to weird-pop wonders, such as David Bowie and Tom Waits

“...songs full of drama and action, designed to get pulses racing and yet still sounding both intricate and adventurous” Rave Magazine
