1.
I opened the door and was sure there was somebody there And Violet the Killjoy was hiding and waiting to take me As a matter of fact as I stood with my back to the wall A shot like a thrill ran a riot until it had faded I wanted you to save me from the outside in I wanted you to save me from the outside in I wanted you to save me from the outside But what was outside But what was out came in Violet the Killjoy emerged from her place in the night And shot through the dark like the flash of a spark as it faded To a point in the black where the gun met the back of my head With a torment to mock like the tick of a clock as it faded I wanted you to save me from the outside in I wanted you to save me from the outside in I wanted you to save me from the outside But what was outside But what was out came in I'm afraid but you left me alone You left me alone and I'm shaking, I'm shaking I'm afraid but you left me alone You left me alone and I'm shaking, I'm shaking I'm afraid but you left me alone You left me alone and I'm shaking, I'm shaking I'm lost and I'm violet I said I wanted you to Save me from the outside in

There's a knife in my heart and a storm in my head where our consciences meet there our politics end in a candle of fear that explodes like a bomb and the aftershocks ring with a rhythm that beats like a drum It all came crashing down but I never meant any harm just wanted to get away and God help you if I ever come here again Carbon monoxide a cloud overhead that erases the sun and raises the dead how the blood on my hands bears the reassuring weight of a gun It all came crashing down but I never meant any harm just wanted to get away and God help you if I ever come here again Turn around now you've got to turn and run away
3.
I'm an instamatic I'm a camera shutter open when you're hiding in the corner from a tyrant what a tin man are you searching for a reason would a father hate his daughter are you fighting for a question like the weather in New Orleans Could I fall in love with you I'm an instamatic I'm a page of colour stolen by a thief so systematic now you'll never be forgotten and though I will not abandon you to wanton self destruction though you're tied up like a sex toy could I love or want another Could I fall in love with you Tooth and nail you're scratching at your own dead skin and tearing it in two
4.
It started off as a question in her head but the question was a cancer and it spread to her fingers lungs and finally to her heart said the president “you've got moments to live” So the plastic surgeon cut away her arms and her legs stuck a hand in her vagina and he cut out her eggs as the doctor amputated to the bass of her neck said he “thank god we might have saved you” But there's an irritation I'm just an imitation left over amputation still that's the latest fashion Left right left I walk in perfect step and tear you down if you fall behind we're spinning round and round til we're upside down and then I'll make you pay I'll make you pay But there's an irritation I'm just an imitation left over amputation still thats the latest fashion a hyper-combination but with irradiation

Holes 04:38
There are holes in me in shapes I recognise of all the people that I love and all the things that I don't have they're wide and deep enough to see the other side and watch the people walking by their faces as the multiply And the more I try to fill them with the things I find the more I cannot get enough I'll tell you when I've had enough Can you help me what more can I do when the darkness is taking over and I'm breaking but if I can't make the choice what am I supposed to do when the darkness is taking over what will be left to fill the holes Hold on tight we're getting out of here before the fools arise from sleep Before the holes have swallowed me they can keep us down but the can't keep us apart I'll tell you when I've had enough if you tell me when you've had enough
6.
Last night I ran through the empty streets To the house where you live And wrote my choice on a paper heart Folded up in my hand Here I go again when you wake up I'll be gone Last night I fell from the greatest height Tumbled backwards through space And with an angry voice and bloodshot eyes Tore you down to your face Here I go again when you wake up I'll be gone Cried out and whispered in an angry voice crashing wept like an orchestra violin tears and trumpet wails a climbing crescendo to stay Better run
7.
Tell me tell me watchya gotta do to get a drink around here It's... well maybe it's all right that upon the lips of a delicate soul fell a chorus of heartache as, oh my heart fell to pieces as it fell on the floor she said “it slipped through my fingers, I'm sorry, but you should have thrown that old thing out” I keep on reaching out but it's never enough. Tell me tell me watchya gotta do to get a drink around here. You can put it in your mouth a cure like cock with a candy taste with as much as you can get from a cigarette and it comes in a handy paste but with a vampire kiss on your bloodless lips it'll suck your sex drive out
8.
Melt the ice from around your broken heart wipe the cold disbelief from your eyes my fingers freeze as they touch my pallid skin but I can see through a fault in your disguise Tell me are you gonna make up your mind what-ya gonna do tell me what-cha gonna do if you stay Because your a shooting star in the freezing cold and through the dark you cast no shadow on a sleeping world you can fight your fears again Burn the fears from around your broken heart light the sun with the fire in your eyes I can see us breaking from this constellation we'll escape moving at the speed of light Can you breathe can we trip around the sun can you breathe can we hide before we run can you slide into the atmosphere before we explode You're a shooting star in the freezing cold and like a ghost you cast no shadow on a sleeping world you can fight your fears again
9.
There was a message scratched in the wall of the toilet the said CIRCUS FREAK I tore it down as I left I stepped on the drunks and the corpses in the street the bouncer tipped us a wink, hey watch out he'll take what you owe in oral sex he'll bump and grind and laugh out loud when he turn and asks you“What comes next?” Staring across the Marxist bar was a girl with a predatory eye who wraps her legs around broken men and smash their hearts when their lost inside as she screams, he screams we all cry out, but why would you ask when its so complex the skeleton key of a cock-sure bitch with a roving eye, well, what comes next. Where are you hiding in the darkness I hear you breathing fast and loud like an earthquake shaking up my bones you're unmissable, you freaks you freaks, junkies, outcasts, freaks of nature. You freaks freaks freaks
10.
Cut my eyes out I don't want to touch you anymore now I know the truth Could you promise that you'd never disappear or turn into a ghost What strange machines are spinning clockwork in my head now I know the truth Could you promise that you'd never disappear or turn into a ghost Its about time here's the count down making such a quiet sound ticking by like a clicking machine gun ready to shoot me dead to the ground Could you promise that you'd never disappear And its 4 and its 3 and its 2. Are you really that surprised? I know what this is with curtains burned the windows clear ahead so tell me the truth

On WHAT STRANGE MACHINES, released in early 2011, I wanted to explore the fringes of the dynamic, theatrical and often-abrasive writing style I've developed. The album was completely self-produced, recorded and mixed in the houses and bedrooms I've lived in recently (sorry for the noise, house-mates). The album seems to be shocking and entertaining folk all over the place (which entertains me)

"With brilliantly diverse musicality, Arp’s versatile vocals and the use of less conventional instruments such as the kazoo and the ukulele, Fronz Arp is not afraid to be adventurous" TRAXX RADIO

"These guys are weird! I think I’m in love!" HOSS THE BOSS

about

Fronz Arp Brisbane, Australia

The strange machine which is Fronz Arp grinds like a tattered, angry little hurdy gurdy. With dramatic jaunt and seesawing melodies that have been compared to weird-pop wonders, such as David Bowie and Tom Waits

“...songs full of drama and action, designed to get pulses racing and yet still sounding both intricate and adventurous” Rave Magazine
